Hey everyone,
I am new here, and seeking information and perspective. I am a 25 yr old male afflicted with moderate Cereral Palsy. I am looking to contact other CP patients (and their loved one) who have gone the ASCT route. I have heard so much misinformation and propoganda from both sides of the aisle; I desperately need to speak to someone who has walked down this road already.
Sincerely,
Joseph Carducci

California Awards Grants for Research Projects in NON-EMBRYONIC Stem Cells
By ANDREW POLLACK
Published: October 28, 2009
LOS ANGELES — In a tacit acknowledgment that the promise of human embryonic stem cells is still far in the future, California’s stem cell research program on Wednesday awarded grants intended to develop therapies using mainly other, less controversial cells.
[It's ok, you can say it...A-D-U-L-T stem cells. There, was that so hard?]

MATT TAIBBI | Sep 03, 2009 | ROLLING STONE MAGAZINE shared artice

Let's start with the obvious: America has not only the worst but the dumbest health care system in the developed world. It's become a black leprosy eating away at the American experiment — a bureaucracy so insip…

I will start off by apologizing to every one who was keeping track of me. I have obviously been home for awhile. Unfortunately I was not greeted with the amount of positivity and excitement I had hoped for. Carina was not able to fly home with us. She needed a reentry visa. We did not have that, my bad. Lesson learned, the hard way. She got back a couple of weeks ago I was also told that my dog Sophie had been hit by a car. I was quite devastated. I adopted a dog that was abused and needed a goo…

The recent article on Richard Humphries' triumph over his MS ( http://repairstemcell.wordpress.com/2009/09/02/my-ms-pain-is-gone/ ) prompted this response from a concerned reader. "Posting was bright and filled with promise, but, alas, not a lot of information. - CJD"
Good call CJD! I did some digging and would like to present the cumulative results to answer the question: Can MS be treated with stem cells?
You decide. Here are 11 articles from my blog, 47 from donmargolis.com, 28,000 from goo…

When I came to Costa Rica in June for the mini-lipo I was diagnosed as a cronic underachiever. Only 14 million MSC's.
I made the decision to stop treatment and wait for them to expand my cells.
When I returned to CR in August, ICM informed me that they would have to start my IV injections because my cells had expanded to over 310 million. I was happily surprised to hear the process worked so well.
The head of the lab told me he would sing to them every night. He said "you have to treat them ju…

I had to call ICM and have Dr. Lara come to my room. I had a really high fever and could not even walk to the bathroom. It's a good thing this place is all tile. Just kidding!
It lasted all day. I was so tired I could not keep my eyes open.
The Dr. gave me a shot of something in my BMA. I will have to ask him what it was.
He was afraid I had gotten Meningitis. I guess that is a concern with the lumbar punctures. They have never had it happen.
It seems to be resolved. Now I feel fine.
He thinks…

I had an IV of 67 million MSC's last night. So now I have had 63 million, 60 and now 67. Plus the 9 million in each intrathecal.
Today I feel like crap. It feels like I am getting the flu. I remember this from last time #3 & 4 were brutal for me. By tomorrow I will be feeling like myself again, then Friday I have another big dose. That was why I decided to wait an extra day to go home. I couldn't even imagine flying like this.
I have been awake now for 2 hours. Time for a nap!

Today was my first intrathecal injection. They have so many MSC's for me that they decided to start those as well. I received 63 million of my own MSC's and 9 million cord cells today. I will get three more of each before I am done. WOW!
They have also raised my PT to 2 hours per session. The PT is amazed at my improvement already. So am I. Both mental and physical are still very good.
I walk with a girl from London that is here for MS. We seem to push each other every day to go farther and fas…

Today I had Physio at 1:00, I got to go in the water. I was very happy. Now that I am back in my hotel room I can feel my legs are tired, And it's awesome. Yesterday I realize that my neck is getting stronger. Before I came here I was in a electronic wheelchair, but we did not bring that with us, instead we brought my Manual wheelchair just to make it easier. This wheelchair does not have a headrest. Within two days my neck was killing me. By the time I went for my first day and meeting with the…

On Wednesday I received Physio in the pool and it was awesome!
I feel way better in the water. Moving doesn't hurt as much.
My injections on Wednesday was totally different. A new nurse who spoke very little English. She was getting ready to give me an IV. I was confused. Usually I just get a spinal tap. So the Dr. came in to talk to us. It turned out that my cells were harvested and ready. And they like to put them in as soon as possible the fresher they are the better. he told me that I would…

Maybe not ever but, definately in the last two years.
I don't know what is going on with my body.
I have had more energy than I know what to do with. Great balance. I even went watersking. It was ugly but, I got up on slalom ski and didn't kill myself.
I can't say it is the stemcells.…

So last week I started my Physio on Tuesday -Friday. Basic assessment. And a couple of stretching exercises. Nothing too hard. And I think no pain no gain, but none of my physiotherapists agree. Apparently am supposed to take it slow. But I never do that because I always want everything right now. So I'm trying to work on my mental patience. That is the hardest part. My injections last week both went smoothly. Except for laying down for five HRS. BORING!!. But I do get time to talk to my cells.…

I leave Friday at midnight for round dos in CR. Hopefully I will be rested for Monday, start day.
I will be taking Sunflower seeds for Javier, the "short" bus driver and Dr. Zuniga, the person babysitting my cells in the lab. The girls at PT also wanted me to bring Cadbury Caramello candy bars. I think I can handle those requests.
The last 2 weeks have been crazy trying to buy some houses in both DFW and Denver. I hope while I am gone the banks accept my offer.
Pysically, I haven't felt this…

Nothing has happened in the clinic or at physiotherapy for me. I do not go back for Physio until Tuesday. I will be getting Physio every week for three weeks from Tuesday to Friday. All my weekends and Mondays are free. And I will be getting my injections. Wednesdays and Fridays. So far I feel a lot more energy and I am feeling more contr the ol of my bladder, I have been getting more feeling in my hands and every day I feel a little bit stronger. Im definitely seeing improvement! And I am excit…

It is 1:00 on July the 24th, I have my 2nd injection at 3:30.
Since the last injection I have had alot of energy and my hands are starting to feel as if they are tingling from a wake up.
he mini lipo was a quick procedure. It was painful afterwards, so I do need to stay up on my pain killers. Everyone at the hospital is very nice. It seems that the hospital is so busy now with the STEMMIES, that the after care information was lacking - in my case anyways. I will update you after my 2nd injection…
